Technology Transfer Day exhibit

PARTICIPANTS: Students, professionals, and members and representatives of various sectors and institutions come to attend the conferences held at the Waterfront Hotel.

The three-day Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW), with the theme: “Science for the People”, was successfully held in Cebu City as close to six thousand participants from various sectors attended the annual event aimed at promoting awareness of the contribution of science and technology to national development.

The regional event, which the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) 7 had undertaken in coordination with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI), was held at Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu, from June 20 to June 22, 2017.

It was part of the nationwide celebration of National Science and Technology Week as mandated by Presidential Proclamation 2214, as amended by Republic Act 169 of 1993, the purpose of which is to provide “an opportunity to focus regional and national attention on the contribution of science and technology to national development and to give recognition and appreciation to outstanding accomplishments and personalities in science and technology”.

Among the major highlights of the celebration was the holding of exhibits of various ongoing DOST 7 programs, projects, and services; technology and innovation conference; health research and innovation conference; Technology Transfer Day; and the Regional Invention Contests & Exhibits (RICE).

Participating in the event were members of and representatives from scientific, business, and academic and research communities, professional groups, banking and financial institutions, and import/export-oriented companies.
