The Department of Science and Technogy (DOST) 7 calls for observance of healthy lifestyles as the nation celebrates the 45th Nutrition Month this month.

Nutrition Month is an annual event celebrated every month of July.

DOST 7’s call to action is in line with the annual event which banners the theme: “Kumain ng Wasto at Maging Aktibo…Push natin ‘to!”

The theme encourages everyone to advocate for and realize the importance of healthy diets, increased physical activity and reduced sedentary behavior.

Pushing the advocacy means that each and everyone can contribute to better nutrition and physical acvity for better health.

DOST 7, for its part as an institution, has performed its role in promoting a healty citizenry by providing assistance to health researches and healthy food innovations.

In consonance with this year theme, DOST 7 pushes for higher awareness of  proper consumption nutricious food groups as conveyed by the message in the slogan: “Go, Grow, Glow”. Food items under “Go” are rice and its alternatives such as bread, noodles and root crops.

Under the “Grow” food group are medium variety of fish like galunggong and its alternatives such as large varieties of fish (bangus), lean meat (chicken, pork, beef) and chicken egg, etc.

In “Glow” food group belong the medium-size fruits (saging, dalanghita, mangga) and big-size fruits (papaya, pinya, pakwan). (by: Licinio Gingoyon)
