The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) VII through DOST Cebu collaborates with Lamac Multipurpose Cooperative (LMPC) for the compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) covering tablea, coco sugar, bakery and dairy product processing.

As a significant milestone, DOST and LMPC unveiled the GMP Manual during LMPC’s 8th Representative Assembly and 28th Annual Assembly on March 24, 2019 at Hidden Valley Resort, Lamac, Pinamungajan, Cebu. DOST VII Regional Director Edilberto Paradela, DOST Cebu Provincial S&T Director Tristan Abando and LMPC General Manager Ellen Limocon lead the unveiling of the four GMP manuals.

DOST Cebu Food Safety experts provide technical advisory and consultancy on the documentation and implementation of GMP on various products of LMPC.

On the other hand, DOST and LMPC are currently proposing for a Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) project which would focus on the utilization of technologies for the development of high value products from coconut water and coconut meat which are by products of the coco fiber geonet production of LMPC’s Coco Hub in Colonia, Tuburan.
