Since the virus outbreak, the Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) focused on mass production and distribution of medical face shields, in collaboration with partner organizations and material donors. The Face Shield for the People in the Frontline Project aims to augment the shortage in the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE). Using the plastic injection molding technology, the produced sets of face shields have been distributed to the government hospitals
and other frontline employees in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

As we are now shifting to the new normal, wearing PPE such as face shields is still an essential part of everyday living. MIRDC extends its face shields distribution nationwide through the DOST Regional Offices.
