Three Central Visayas schools have received recognition from the Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) for showing utmost diligence in monitoring the number of STARBOOKS users in their respective campuses.
Receiving recognition from DOST-STII were the Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT-U) and St. Alphonsus Catholic School in Cebu, and the Lazi National Agricultural School in Siquijor province. DOST-STII is one of the allied institutes under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The three schools were recipients of STARBOOKS which stands for Science and Technology Academic Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosks, one of DOST’s projects to improve the quality of education through digital information.
STARBOOKS provides digital access to scientific information without the need for internet connection. Containing hundreds of thousands of digitized science and technology resources in text, video, audio and other formats, this self-contained computer system serves as a one stop shop digital compendium of S&T information gathered from all over the world.
The recognition is intended to encourage close monitoring of STARBOOKS users as proper monitoring is necessary for the continual development and upgrading of STARBOOKS content for the benefit of the public users.
