2020 has been a year full of unexpected challenges and almost everything made a 180 degree turn. Even the DOST VII system was stunned and dismayed by the adverse effects brought by the COVID-19 pandemic but looking back on its mandate “to provide central direction, leadership and coordination of scientific and technological efforts and ensure that the results therefrom are geared and utilized in areas of maximum economic and social benefits for the people,” the agency cannot help but persist and continue to deliver its S&T services. Hence, the DOST VII is proud to present its 2020 Accomplishment Report dubbed as “Adapting to the New Normal while Flattening the Curve through Science and Technology.”

The report will showcase the initiatives of the DOST Regional Office VII to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and how it continued to deliver its usual S&T services while adapting to the new normal. It would also present the transition of leadership in the agency considering the retirement of the then Regional Director, Engr. Edilberto L. Paradela.

The programs of the regional office as well as the undertakings of the Provincial Science and Technology Centers in Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor are uncovered in this report.

Despite the undeniable impact of COVID-19 pandemic, the DOST Regional Office VII will carry on with its mission and continue to bring science and technology closer to the region. (by: Dayien T. Lizada, SRS I / Updated as of April 27, 2021)
