The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office 7 (DOST 7) together with DOST Regional Offices 6 and 8 and in collaboration with the DOST Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development is set to hold a Water Summit in Cebu City next week to integrate water programs, plans, and technologies in sustainable developments efforts in the Visayas regions.

Dubbed as “Second Wave of Action: Water S&T Tools and Technologies”, the water summit, to be held on June 23, 2022 at Golden Prince Hotel in Cebu City, is open to the public.

Experts and stakeholders will present current researches and information relative to water science, technologies and innovation. The presentation will be made to various stakeholders including the local communities, local government units, water suppliers and consumers, business sector, and the academe.

The event aims for eventual adoption of a comprehensive water action plan and integration of water technologies with the LGU’s local development plans.

Likewise, the water summit seeks to open opportunities for DOST to research and develop water technologies and innovation that match the needs of the broadest sectors possible.

Among the main topics (which are broken down to several subtopics) to be presented in the summit are:

  • Philippine Water Supply and Sanitation
  • Accessible Water for Challenged Communities
  • Sanitation and Wastewater Management
  • Water Service Delivery and Efficiency Technology
