Singson of the GAD Regional Support during the DOST@64: Gabi ng Parangal at Pasasalamat held last June 13, 2022, at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, Pasay City.

Nine (9) top-performing regional offices, attached agencies, and PSHS campuses received an award from the Department of Science and Technology – GAD and Regional Support Service during the DOST@64: Gabi ng Parangal at Pasasalamat held last June 13, 2022, at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, Pasay City.

DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña, Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, and Asec. Diana L. Ignacio first presented the awards to the regional office category, first place award to the DOST Region VII, who won for the second time consecutively, followed by DOST Region II and DOST CAR as second and third placers, respectively.

In the attached agency category, DOST Science and Education Institute (SEI) also won first place for the second time, DOST Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) placed second, while Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) got the third place.  While in PSHS Campuses category, SOCCSKSARGEN Campus garnered the first place (1st), Central Mindanao Campus second (2nd), and Western Visayas Campus won the third (3rd) place award.

The incentives and awards program of DOST is provided under Section 42 of RA 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women. It aims to recognize deserving regional offices, attached agencies, and PSHS campuses for their outstanding performance in gender mainstreaming and effective implementation of gender-responsive S&T programs, thereby upholding women’s rights, achieving gender equality and women empowerment, and resulting in transforming the lives of women and men.

The winners of the GAD Awards received a trophy and cash prizes of P15,000.00 for the first placers, P10,000.00 for the second placers, and P5,000.00 for the third placers. A total of 16 regional offices, 18 attached agencies, and 16 PSHS Campuses were assessed for their gender mainstreaming initiatives using Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework (GMEF) tool developed by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

The awarding is in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology – GAD and Regional Support Service (DOST GRSS) led by the Assistant Secretary for Human Resource Management, Management Services, and Special Concerns, Dr. Diana L. Ignacio.
