The Department of Science of Technology (DOST) 7 joined the observance of the 2017 National Statistics month as its opening ceremony kicked off yesterday at the National Government Center in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.
The opening ceremony, organized by the Regional Statistics Committee 7 (RSC7) of which DOST VII is an active member, was part of this year’s month-long event with the theme, “Facts and Figures for the Future: Statistics for Evidence-based Decisions Towards Ambisyon Natin 2040”.
October is officially declared as the National Statistics Month. The opening day of this month’s event was marked by a statistical display or exhibits of statistics concerning the impact of member agencies’ services that are of particular relevance to the “Ambisyon Natin 2040” vision.
In the spirit of “Aksyon para sa Ambisyon”, social services were likewise provided to government employees and the household members of Dry Riverbed Homeowners Association (DRIHOA), a nearby community of urban settlers. Free medical and dental services and other professional assistance were provided by various member agencies.
Among the services offered were free medical consultation, vaccination, tooth extraction, blood typing and random sugar testing. Dental buses were stationed at the DOST 7 compound while legal consultations and counseling were held at the DOST 7 multi-purpose room.
An estimated number of over a hundred who came were able to avail themselves of the free services.
