There’s an added ability in the skillset of persons with disabilities (PWD) in the province.

The Department of Science and Technology-Negros Oriental Provincial Science and Technology Center (DOST NegOr PSTC) in cooperation with DCCCO Multipurpose Cooperative Main Office – Dumaguete City and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Dumaguete City conducted the skills training on advanced candle making at Jeemz Candle Maker compound in Fisherman Village, Lomboy, Tugas, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental last October 7-9, 2019.

Around 14 participants from Banilad persons with disabilities (PWDs) association attended the event. The said training, which was held for three days, aimed to capacitate the PWDs by using candle machines for mass production as well as improving the state of life through revenues accrued from the new techniques. Mr. Rommel L. Romagos, DOST’s training coordinator, emphasized to participants that patience, dedication, and focus should be observed in order to achieve one’s goal in every endeavor. Ms. Monaliza M. Nemenzo, DCCCO livelihood program coordinator, added that DCCCO management will always look for the benefits in alleviating the livelihood status of their assisted association. Engr. Erwin Z. Bayawa, owner of Jeemz Candle Maker, a SETUP-assisted firm based in Tanjay City served as the resource person during the training.
