The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) GREAT Women Project 2 (GWP2) will conduct an activity entitled “Roundtable Discussion on Ease of Doing Business in the Philippines: A Focus on Food Business Sector – Visayas Cluster” on April 28, 2017 at Golden Prince Hotel in Cebu City.
The objectives of the activity are: 1) to document challenges experienced by women micro entrepreneurs (WMEs) in securing and complying with business registration requirements including that of FDA for food producers; and 2) to identify ways forward for GWPs and partners to address these challenges such as possible policy and programmatic reforms.
A total of 27 WMEs from Regions 6, 7 an 8 (Iloilo, Cebu and Leyte) are invited to share their experiences and expectations on the application process and requirements of the FDA-LTO Certification.
The GREAT Women Project 2 endeavors to build the capacity of more public and private sector development institutions to address specific barriers that keep women from growing their businesses in specific industry clusters. For the WMEs, the project aims to build their entrepreneurial skills to help sustain, grow and make their businesses more profitable.
