DOST SIQUIJOR PSTD Engr. Mario E. de le Peńa, DOST 7 GAD Focal Person Myriel Siason, DOST Main GAD Focal Officer Maria Fe Singson, and DOST 7 ARD for FAD Sam Parcon as they received the award FIRST PLACE of DOST GAD Mainstreaming Award of 2022 at Sofitel Hotel, Metro Manila on June 13, 2022.

DOST Region VII took home the First Place DOST GAD Mainstreaming Award 2022 besting other DOST regional centers nationwide during the celebration of the 64th Anniversary of the creation of DOST with the theme “DOST@64: Pagdiriwang at Pasasalamat.”

This is the second time that DOST Region VII won the same award – the first one was only last year 2021.

Interestingly, DOST SIQUIJOR PSTC writes an expressed recognition of the dignity of women in a nook of its office which reads:  “A woman is next closer to God.  Her dignity is sacred.”

Under the leadership of Regional Director Engr. Jesus F. Zamora, Jr., DOST PSTCs of Siquijor, Negros Oriental, Bohol, and Cebu have geared their significant efforts in pursuing gender-responsive S & T programs, projects, and activities to promote gender equality and women empowerment within their organization and among their clientele.

Engr. Mario E. de la Peńa, DOST Provincial Director of Siquijor said:  “In the context of this award that DOST Region VII has just received, it is a triumph to note that it has been a conscientious implementer of Gender and Development. We have labored to empower women of their true worth.  We have become a haven for women and their concerns on improving their lives and their families.”

DOST Region VII will definitely take the lead in ushering other stakeholders to the mainstream of Gender and Development now and in the years to come.  It is a godly order – but with a GAD-LY move, the vision of making every woman matter in development will not be too far a sustained reality.
