The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) has announced today, March 31, 2019 the qualifiers for undergraduate scholarship programs – Republic Act No. 7687 and Merit.

The names of qualifiers are posted at DOST-SEI’s website, and leading newspapers in the country. Said qualifiers will now enjoy P40,000.00 subsidy for tuition and school fees, receive P10,000.00 book allowance per academic year and be given P7,000.00 monthly living allowance for the academic year, among other benefits. These scholars have to be enrolled in any of the science and technology priority courses in any state university/college or private school identified as Center of Excellence or Center of Development in order to avail.

The said scholarships are open to all graduating senior high school students who are enrolled in public and private schools. Grade 12 students taking up Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) strand are all qualified to apply. Meanwhile, non-STEM strand students such as ABM, HUMMS or TVL must belong to the Top 5% of their class to be able to apply.

The DOST Negros Oriental Provincial Science and Technology Center will coordinate with the qualifiers and announce the orientation schedule as soon as contract forms are available. More than 1,300 student hopefuls in Negros Oriental took the nationwide examination in five venues last year, October 21, 2018 – 40% more than examinees in 2017.
