October 24, Cebu City – The Department of Science and Technology Region VII (DOST VII) declared the winners of 2022 Search for the Most Outstanding Scholars Association in Region 7.

The DOST Scholars Association of Negros Oriental (DOST SA Negros Oriental) bagged the first place, while DOST SA Bohol and DOST SA CIT-U placed second and third, respectively.

The winners were announced on the 3rd day of the National Science and Technology Week Celebration in Central Visayas last October 14, 2022.

DOST VII Regional Director Engr. Jesus F. Zamora, Jr. personally turned over the awards. Assisting him are Assistant Regional Director for Finance and Administration Engr. Samuel A. Parcon and Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations Division Engr. Tristan L. Abando.

Engr. Parcon, DOST VII Scholarship coordinator, said their office initiated the contest to recognize the scholar association’s effort for the quality of their engagements and endeavors including their contribution to the organization members, the university/college, the DOST and the community.

The scholars’ association are judged according to their impact of accomplishments (40%), engagement of scholars (20%), active participation in the DOST and/or university activities (15%), community participation (15%) and creativity (10%).

All winners will each receive a plaque of recognition plus P10,000.00, P7,000.00 and P5,000.00 for the 1st placer, 2nd placer and 3rd placer, respectively. Non-winners will receive P1,000.00 consolation prize. (Engr. Reinhold Jek Y. Abing, SRS II/S&T Media Service – DOST Negros Oriental)
