Carrying the theme “Agham at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan,” the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) VII is bringing the 2022 National Science and Technology Week in Central Visayas closer to the people with interactive exhibits and activities at Robinsons Galleria, Cebu City on October 12 to 14.

After several pandemic-related restrictions are lifted, the NSTW-CV resumes face-to-face celebration this year. The three-day event will highlight significant activities namely, S&T exhibits, forums, and awarding of CEST and SETUP Projects. The event and exhibits are the perfect venues for technology developers and investors, students as well as S&T service providers and clients to interact and pursue potential opportunities. Parallel activities will also be held in 2 other venues. The DOST-SEI’s In Touch with Excellence will be at the Summit Galleria Hotel. This celebrates the achievements of DOST scholars as a way to showcase the truest impact of the government’s science and technology scholarship program. On the other hand, the DOST VII and the DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute will hold a STARBOOKS Convention at DepEd Ecotech Center. This activity aims to promote the use of STARBOOKS towards a sustainable and resilient future.

This entire celebration of NSTW-CV aims for people to experience the vital role of science, technology, and innovation in improving people’s quality of life and contributing to national development. It is conducted every year to give recognition to the accomplishments and outstanding personalities in science and technology. It will also showcase the significant contributions of science and technology to national development.

This year’s theme conveys how science, research, and technology have been our partners to have a stable and prosperous community. It shows how the inventions of modern tools have helped us to further develop the country and its community, how our knowledge continues to increase due to the study of science, how we constantly discover things through research, and how modern technology has helped us pull through, especially during the pandemic.

The event will be attended by DOST officials, entrepreneurs, students and scholars, partners and stakeholders from the public and private sectors. The Cebu Technological University Chorale and Dance Troupe will also grace the event’s Grand Opening. The public who wishes to watch virtually may witness this majestic celebration via the official Facebook account of DOST VII.
