To synchronize GAD efforts in all levels of governance in pursuit of gender mainstreaming, the DOST GAD Unit spearheaded a three-day Assembly of the members of the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) on October 26-28, 2022 at Solea Mactan, Resort, Cordova, Cebu.

Engr. Jesus F. Zamora, Regional Director of DOST 7 said, “this annual activity is one effective platform in strengthening the capacity of the GFPS, share expertise and  boost collaborative efforts, so as to  effectively lead in mainstreaming gender perspective in DOST policies, plans and programs.”

RD Zamora added, that this activity is consistent with Section 37-C of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Magna Carta of Women which provides that all concerned government agencies and instrumentalities shall establish or strengthen their GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) to catalyze and accelerate gender mainstreaming within the agency.

During the Assembly, the members of the GFPS learned how to use the tool that can assess the functionality of their members, as well as on the importance of collecting the Sex-disaggregated data and on how to set-up a GAD Database in order to get the gender disparity  and the differential needs of men and women towards a gender  responsive program and project implementation.

More than a hundred members of the GFPS of DOST actively participated in the GAD Focal Point Assembly.
