Engr. Lope H. Dacanay, Jr, Chief of the Basic Meteorological Instruments of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), together with a team of four observation aides, after paying a courtesy call to DOST-PSTC Siquijor in the morning of November 10, 2022, went directly to PAGASA Siquijor Synoptic Station to install weather monitoring equipment.

PAGASA Siquijor Synoptic Station has just been newly established this year 2022.  According to Engr. Dacanay, his team will be putting up digital barometer, wind instrument, standard rain gauge, tipping bucket rain gauge, rain recorder, instrument shelter, psychrometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, wet bulb dry bulb relative humidity calculator, thermograph, and other miscellaneous equipment.

Meanwhile, Engr. Mario E. de la Peña,  Provincial Director of DOST-PSTC Siquijor, took time to be with the PAGASA personnel at the station for some updates.

According to Engr. Dacanay, as soon as the installation is done and upon the approval of the Director of PAGASA, the PAGASA Siquijor Synoptic Station of Caipilan, Siquijor, Siquijor will begin to function.

In a way, the soon-operation of PAGASA Siquijor Synoptic Station will compliment with the operation of the Siquijor Airport.
