
A Two-day seminar-workshop on Gender and Development (GAD) enhanced the skills, knowledge and appreciation of 72 (Male 42, Female 30) employees on the significance of GAD in gender responsive programming and in building teamwork amongst the employees of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) 7. The training activity was spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) VII in partnership with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

Ms. Annabelle Maglasang, member of GAD Resource Pool and Dr. Rhodora Bucoy the chairperson of the PCW provided the participants with the basic GAD concepts, input on gender issues, GAD policy imperatives, Violence against Women and Children, GAD mainstreaming and on the salient features of Magna Carta of Women.

Ms. Marichu D. Baclay, Chairperson of the Technical Working Group of the Gender Focal Point System (GFPS) of DOST VII said, the input on GAD “were clearly discussed . . . for the participants to come up with a clear understanding” on the value of GAD in making a gender receptive program implementation and in heightening gender sensitive working relations with fellow employees.

The two-day Seminar Workshop is actively supported by the officers and members of the GFPS committee headed by Regional Director Edilberto L. Paradela, Ms. Bernarda G. Perez. ARD- Admin and Finance and Engr. Jesus F. Zamora, Jr. ,ARD-Technical Operations of DOST 7.
