Grade 6 students demonstrated their knowledge of Science and Math as they competed in the 2nd Regional Sci-Math Battle hosted by the Philippine Science High School – Central Visayas Campus. The competition is in line with the celebration of the Department of Science and Technology’s National Science and Technology Week.

The contenders battled in a three-round quiz consisting of an Easy, Average, and a Difficult Round. Among the participants, Zechariah Rei G. Mangubat of Araneta Learning Center for Child Development, Inc. – Medellin Campus bagged the championship of this year’s 2nd Regional Sci-Math Battle. Zechariah was accompanied by his coach, Ms. Jee Marie C. Toralba.

The 2nd placer was Jon Jedreck S. Ruiz of West City Exceptional Child Learning Center – Dumaguete City and the 3rd placer was Anaiah Noelle S. Quimera of Cebu Normal University.

The champion received ₱8,000, while the 2nd and 3rd placers received ₱5,000 and ₱3,000, respectively.

A total of 15 schools attended the Sci-Math Battle, including:

Dr. Rachel Luz V. Rica, Director of PSHS-CVisC, during her welcome message announced that they will increase their intake from 90 to 120 for the school year 2023-2024. This is the first in the campus’s 17-year history. She also invited everyone to the 2023 Regional Sci-Math Battle, which will be held in Bohol.

This year’s Sci-Math Battle took place on November 4 at Robinsons Galleria, Cebu City. Participants and guests were able to witness a digital fabrication demonstration as well as science and technology exhibits highlighting the Pisay scholars’ innovations. An NCE-RACE (National Competitive Examination Requirement for Admission, Criteria, and Evaluation) booth was also available for those interested in learning about the institution’s scholarship offerings.
